據傳歌星 Roy Orbison 一次與作詞人 Bill Dee 在書房閒談中, Roy 的妻子 Claudette 走進來告知要外出與友人茶敍, Roy 問妻子有否足夠金錢往購物? Bill 打趣說: "如此漂亮迷人, 外出何需携帶金錢呢?" 此曲創作靈感, 由此一句 "Pretty woman" 而生 ....
