TOM & JERRY
同是生於1941年的 Paul Simon 與 Art Garfunkel 一起成長於紐約皇后區, 一個猶太人社區相互為隣, 受教育於同一小學, 至中學時兩人同活躍於校內的戲劇活動與歌唱表演。
1955年, 两人就讀初中時, 已開始撰寫自己的歌曲, 很快便給音樂業界發掘, Simon 化名 Jerry Landis (女友名 Sue Landis), Garfunkel 化名 Tom Graph (因他習慣用 Graph Paper 來寫作) , 因此以 "TOM and JERRY" 的二人組合名字參與唱片錄音, 由此踏進音樂事業, 至1957年的首張歌曲 "Hey, Schoolgirl" 與 "Dancin' Wild" 细碟銷量達十萬張, 並打進 Billboard 流行榜列四十九位, 漸參與不同的電視節目演出, 被樂迷評為有 The Everly Brothers 的格調。
