WINGS OF A DOVE
一首鄉謠歌曲, 名字啟發自聖經 Psalms 詩篇第五十五章, 第六節 "I said,"Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest"。歌詞內容是根據聖經 Genesis 創世記第八章, 六至十二節 Noah's Ark《挪亞方舟》的故事:「大地被洪水淹沒, 挪亞在方舟上漂流四十天之後, 放出一隻鴿子以鳥瞰洪水是否乾涸。經過多次嘗試之後, 最终, 看見鴿子含著橄欖枝飛回來, 挪亞知道地上的淹水已開始退下」。
自此, 含著橄欖枝的鴿子, 成為象徵和平的標誌。
Robert Bruce Ferguson (1927-2001)
美國鄉謠作曲家和唱片監製, 亦是一位專於考究北美洲 Choctaw 族印地安人的歷史學家。在 Tennessee 田納西州 Nashville 納殊維爾成立的鄉謠音樂中心, 得他的推動和組織, 發揮了重大的成果。他的鄉謠作品 "On The Wings of A Snow White Dove" 1960年七月由 Ferlin Husky 錄製單曲細唱片面世, 並登上 "US Billboard Country Chart" 鄉謠榜首位, "US Billboard Hot 100 Chart" 流行榜第十二位, 至1987年, 更獲得 "Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) 廣播音樂機構" 的百萬次播放紀錄獎。

男主角 Robert Duvall "Mac Sledge" 一個離婚已久, 在小鎮稍有名氣又是個酒鬼的鄉謠歌手。一天早上從醺醉中醒來, 發現身處一間簡陋的汽車旅館房間內, 才知酒醉後給朋友送來暫宿; 店主 Tess Harper "Rosa Lee" 是個年輕寡婦, 丈夫在越戰身亡, 她獨力撫養兒子, 又要打理旅館和油站, Mac 有見及此, 提出為她工作以換取房間暫住, 得她同意並答應付給工資和膳食, 條件是工作時不准喝酒。自此, 每天晚飯完畢, 觀看電視之外, 兩人還會聊天, 互訴自己的過去, 因而漸漸產生感情 ....
Robert Duvall 憑這電影而獲得1984年度 "奥斯卡金像獎 Academy Award" 最佳男主角獎。
