五十年代末, 正藉搖滾熱潮初起之時, Don 和 Phil Everly 兄弟以清新形象, 拿着木結他, 輕柔舒暢的曲風, 由唱片錄音至嶄露頭角, 吸引不少青年樂迷, 在演唱舞台的聚光燈下, 光芒四射, 持續了幾十年, 在流行樂壇帶來不少影響, 成為搖滾、民歌與及鄉謠歌曲的二重唱典範。
EVERLY BROTHERS
Donald "Don" Everly 1937年二月一日生於 Kentucky 肯塔基州 Muhlenberg County 穆倫貝縣, 而弟弟 Phillip "Phil" 1939年一月十九日生於 Illinois 伊利諾伊州 Chicago 芝加哥。兄弟兩人, 自1945年開始在 Iowa 愛荷華州的小城市 Shenandoah 成長和接受教育。

父親, Isaac Milford "Ike" Everly, Jr. (1908-1975) 身於貧窮家庭, 自幼喜愛音樂, 十四歲開始在媒礦場工作, 二十六歲與年僅十五歲, 同是愛好音樂的 Margaret Embry 成婚。誕下兩兒之後, 放棄礦場原工作, 與妻子以音樂為業, 至四十年代中期, Ike Everly 開始以個人参加在 Shenandoah 市的 KMA 電台節目, 繼而組成夫妻組合演出。仍然在學的 Don 和 Phil 兄弟, 受父母的音樂熏陶, 很快亦加入組成 "Everly Family" 合唱樂隊, 在不同場合和電台的家庭節目演出, 大受歡迎。
"LITTLE DONNY AND BABY BOY PHIL"
兩兄弟是天生左撇子, 在父親悉心指導和引領下, 克服了傳統結他彈奏方法, 至長大後, 兄弟以 "Little Donny and Baby Boy Phil" 常在電台節目以二重唱的歌曲演繹, 突顯了兩人的協調和唱, 引起樂壇業界注目。父親 Ike Everly 與當代的結他手 Merle Travis, Mose Rager, Kennedy Jones 在流行樂壇同負盛名。

1953年, Ike Everly 舉家遷居 Tennessee 田納西州 Knoxville 諾克斯維爾, Don 在當地完成高校學業; 兩年後, Phil 轉讀在 Nashville 納殊維爾的高校, 至1957年完成學業。由於兄弟兩人常在不同場合表演, 吸引了父親的好友結他樂手 Chet Akins 注目, 由於他是 RCA Victor 唱片監製和錄音室經理, 為了避嫌而安排 Everly 兄弟到 Columbia Records 哥倫比亞唱片公司試音; 1956年, Phil 仍在學期間, 首張以 "The Everly Brothers" 組合名字的細唱片面世, A-面 "Keep A-lovin' Me", B-面 "The Sun Keeps Shining", 兩曲同是 Everly 兄弟用詞簡淺, 文筆稚嫩的作品, 唱片面世後仍未為樂壇注目, 唱片公司再沒有為他們錄製其他歌曲。
