"THE WORLD IS GETTING SMALLER"
二十一世紀今天, 我們對世界事物, 如政治、人權、倫理和環保等議題, 在流行樂壇有不少歌曲抒發一番, 和引起社會的關注。在六十年代初, 不少香港老樂迷認識的情歌 "The World is Getting Smaller" 正好比喻今天全球一體化下, 世界變得更細小, 人們日常生活交往, 在互聯網的科技下, 訊息流暢與及快易頻繁。
1960年 Mark Dinning 演譯兩首情歌, 均有優美旋律和清簡歌詞, A-面主打歌曲 "She Cried On My Shoulder (While She Talked About You)" 與及B-面的歌曲可能因為没有登流行榜上, 不被其他歌手看好的原故, 在網上的音樂平台, 兩曲同様沒有被翻唱的記錄。B-面是我輩香港樂熟悉和迷喜愛的 "The World Is Getting Smaller (Where Can You Hide Away)"; 1962年, 華人曲詞家李雋青撰上中文歌詞, 由香港女歌星張露演譯, 至1966年, 臺灣女歌手吳靜嫻演譯, 同是中英雙語版本, 還有1970年, 來自星加坡的女歌手梁依玲, 與及1971年, 徐小鳳演譯的中詞西曲《你何必躲避》。
