唱片監製亦是歌曲創作人 Bob Crewe, 前往 New Orleans 新奧爾良, 與歌手 Kenny Nolan 共同創作的歌曲, 完成後由 Kenny Nolan 任主唱, 與 Disco 樂隊 "The Eleventh Hour" 一同演繹, 原是用作錄音的樣本, 及後收錄在專輯唱片 "Eleventh Hour's Greatest Hits", 1974年六月面世....

"The Eleventh Hour" 首次錄音的版本不被樂迷關注, Bob Crewe 將歌曲的詞與樂譜給在 New Orleans 新奧爾良的唱片監製 Allen Toussaint, 經他交給女子三人組合 "LaBelle" 錄製唱片, Allen Toussaint 親自以最新的 RMI Electra-Piano 電子琴伴奏, 節奏音樂由 Funk Rock 樂隊 "The Meters" 演繹, 收錄在 "LaBelle" 的專輯 "Night Birds" 當中, 1974年九月面世, 亦是 "LaBelle" 與 Epic Records 簽約後的第一張專輯, 而两個月後另以單曲唱片面世; 主唱 Patti Labelle, 成員 Nona Hendryx 與 Sarah Dash 两人的和唱, 為樂迷喜愛的演繹, 成為1974年度的熱門歌曲, 在 "Billboard Hot 100" 榜上名列前茅, 及後, 由於歌曲的文化意義, 被美國國會圖書館保存在國家檔案登記處。

歌曲內容是 Moulin Rouge 夜總會門前一個女子, 搔首弄姿勾搭一個男子, 成為入幕之賓, 但卻未能一親芳澤; 副歌當中的法語 "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?", 意譯 "Do you want to sleep with me, tonight?", 由於有性愛的隱喻而成為樂壇的話題, 與及宗教團體的批評, 主唱歌手 Patti LaBelle 聲稱她完全不知道歌曲會帶來這樣的反應, ｢我不懂法語, 亦沒有人告訴我這句歌詞的意思, 我發誓不知, 衹有上帝才會明白我!｣。
