返回英國後, 1953年與 Iris Jordan 結婚, 育有一兒。日間任職第 27 號公共車司機, 晚上在跳舞埸所任歌手, 一個日夜均不在家的丈夫和父親, 為了養家, 是不願意與家庭有疏遠的感受; 此時, 需要在晚上或白天工作取抉擇, 他選了前者的歌唱工作, 幾年後亦放棄了婚姻和家庭。


FRANK SINATRA
1957年初, 喜劇明星 Peter Sellers 錄製一張諧趣的個人專輯 "Song For Swingin' Sellers", 主題歌曲 "You Keep Me Swingin'" 原是邀請 Frank Sinatra 演譯, 而 Parlophone 唱片公司的監製 George Martin 曾聽過 Matt Monro 早前以 Fred Flange 名字, 在錄音室任試唱時的表現, 與及他的履歷唱片, 演譯 Frank Sinatra 的一曲 "Polka Dots and Moonbeams", 對他印像深刻, 於是找人交給他代替了 Frank Sinatra 演譯這一曲, 但從沒有想像到, 這一首原是主打歌曲帶來重大的迴響。

MATT MONRO - The birth of
曾經以歌手名字 Terry Fitzgerald, Fred Flange 與及 Al Jordan 在不同音樂場所獻藝, 但未見成果。最大的突破是與一隊颇有名氣的樂隊 "Harry Leader & His Band" 在 "BBC 英國廣播電台" 演出後, 領隊把 Terry 在格拉斯哥 Glasgow 錄音的履歷唱片, 分别寄至各音樂業界, 及後得到知名的女鋼琴家 Winifred Atwell 的賞識, 她把唱片拿到 Decca Records 試聽和一番推薦。

這次是創了樂壇業界的先河, 一位從未親身經試音的歌手, 而唱片公司竟然給他一張專輯的合約, 而這位日後成了亦師亦友的 Winifred Atwell, 給他起以一個名字 Matt Monro, 與首張專輯由 Decca Records 印製 Mono 單聲道的唱片 "Blue and Sentimental" 1957年四月, 同日在樂壇誕生。

同年, London Records 亦特别印製另一美國版本, 封面很有古典味道的專輯 "Blue and Sentimental" Matt Monro with Malcolm Lockyer Orchestra。十二首歌曲當中 "My Old Flame" 和 "The One I Love" 是後加在內。這亦是一張稀有的 Matt Monro 專輯版本。
