"KOWLOON HONG KONG" 1966
Hong Kong 香港, 大不列顛殖民地的小漁港; 二戰之後, 繼而國共內戰, 大陸色變, 政治動盪, 很多菲律賓樂手從紙醉金迷的上海來到香港; 以往的華語歌曲唱片錄音與及夜總會以華人樂隊為主, 自此之後, 較為西化的夜總會均聘用菲律賓樂手, 他們樂天的性格和音樂細胞, 將熱情奔放的歐西流行曲帶給香港的樂迷, 令華語 "時代曲" 從傳統的小調, 漸漸走向多元化的旋律與節奏, 成為今天香港 "Cantopop" 的潮流。
"The Reynettes 夜明珠合唱團"
來自上海的菲律賓樂手 Mistra Reyes, 在香港育有五個子女, 三個在澳門出生, 两個在香港出生。在六十年代初, Reyes 五姊弟妹 Rose, Baby, Luz, Jeanette 和 John 組成 "The Reynettes" 樂隊, 夜總會給予 "夜明珠合唱團" 的名字登上表演舞台, 獲不少夜遊人士捧場和讚口不絕。曾經到菲律賓, 臺灣, 冲繩島的夜總會演唱亦大受歡迎, 及後, 前赴 Singapore 新加坡, 在 "Gay World Amusement Park 快樂世界" 演出之後, 吸引許多樂迷, 各大夜總會爭相與他們簽訂表演合約。
1966年在香港錄製第一張 EP 專輯 "Kowloon Hong Kong", 同名的主題歌曲之外, 其他歌曲有 "This Little Boy", "Rescue Me", 與及1932年的 "Yiddish 意第緒語" 歌曲 "Bei mir bist du shein", 意譯 "To me you're beautiful", 撰上英語歌詞而名字不變, 1937年, 由 "The Andrew Sisters" 演繹之後, 翻唱版本至2025年的記錄達两百首, 當中亦包括 "The Reynettes" 1966年在唱片裡的演繹。Video Link: https://youtu.be/UIWGJiNWIaw
"Kowloon Hong Kong" - The Reynettes 1966
這一曲以輕快節奏, 熱鬧活潑的演繹, 歌曲的背景描繪了 "黃包車夫" 和熙熙攘攘的街道, 令西方社會對殖民地香港古樸的風俗更有興趣。在歌詞裡用上小孩在農曆新年的俏皮語【恭喜發財, 利是𢭃來, 斗令唔愛】之外, 另一段歌詞與曲調, 原是董佩佩1956年的歌曲 "第二春", 經撰上英文歌詞的 "The Ding Dong Song", 在音樂劇 "The World of Suzie Wong", 由女主角周采芹 Tsai Chin 演譯, 後來拍製成電影, 由 Nancy Kwan 關南施, 與 William Holden 威廉 荷頓, 演出的 "蘇絲黄的世界"。

"Kowloon Hong Kong" 1966
在香港當年代的英語流行歌曲佔一席位, 成為二十世紀六十年代香港流行的中西文化, 贏得不少歐西歌曲樂迷的追捧; 翻唱版本將俏皮的一段歌詞删掉, 由 Rebecca Pan 潘迪華演繹的版本, 被 "Hong Kong Tourism Board 香港旅遊發展局" 用作推廣香港的歌曲; 及後有 Irene Ryder 黎愛蓮, Frances Yip 葉麗儀, 鍾珍妮、鍾安妮姊妹的演繹, 同樣大受樂迷歡迎。

2011年的 CD 專輯 "BRING IT ON", 當中的作品 "Hong Kong Kowloon", 名字與 "The Reynettes 夜明珠合唱團" 1966年的 "Kowloon Hong Kong" 相近, 但是內容各異, "廿四味" 24 HERBS 的 "Hong Kong Kowloon" 是懷緬往日的香港, 人們在九龍的獅子山下, 從貧窮中成長, 過去五花百門, 多姿多彩的生活, 至今仍難以忘記。
雖然, "Hong Kong 香港" 已貴為【国宝】, 亦自譽是【国际城市】, 但今非昔比, 面對今天的政治氛圍與環境, "廿四味" 24 HERBS 早於2011年在歌曲裡給了香港人互勵互勉的一句 ｢This is our Hong Kong, 是你的地方, 要一齊支持, 繼續香港九龍, 開放與自由!｣
