少女在她的生日派對上, 眼看愛人 Johnny 和另一女子 Judy 突然手挽手離開, 到他返回時, 臂膀的 Judy 手上還戴著他的戒指 ....
自由人作詞家 Seymour Gottlieb 的作品, 靈感啟發自女兒 Judy 十六歲生日派對發生的瑣事。歌曲最早由前女子組合 "The Clickettes" 和 "The Fashions" 的成員 Barbara Jean English 1962年演繹的範本錄音, 當時 Barbara 已退出該女子組合, 並任職唱片公司接待處職員, 亦是其公司的試唱範本歌手。翌年, 還有女子組合 "The Chiffons" 和女歌手 Helen Shapiro 同年完成的錄音聲帶, 不過, 衹有待印製唱片而已。
Mercury Records 唱片公司, 監製 Quincy Jones 聽過不少試唱範本之後, 决定交由年僅十七歲的新晋女歌手 Lesley Gore 演繹, 1963年三月三十日進行錄音, 一個星期完成印製, 捷足先登於四月五日面世; Lesley Gore 憑一曲 "It's My Party" 成名, 馬上被 Detroit 底特律的電視台 WXYZ-TV 一個青年舞會節目邀請演出, 之後的一年内同時参予六個電視台的青年節目演出。
女子組合 "The Chiffons" 的版本, 收錄在専輯 "One Fine Day" 在同年八月面世, 而 Helen Shapiro 早於二月已完成錄音的版本, 要延至十月同收錄在她的專輯 "Helen in Nashville" 面世, 至於另一女子組合 "The Crystals" 雖然亦已完成錄音, 無奈之下, 寕願放棄作罷。因此, 惹來流行樂壇業界不少非議, 有指 Lesley Gore 演繹的版本衹不過是 COVER SONG !

專輯於四月五日面世, 至五月十一日, 打進 U.S. Billboard Hot 100 榜上, Mercury Records 發覺這首衹有两分鐘的歌曲, 贏得不少青年樂迷, 馬上要錄製一首後續篇, 好讓電台唱片騎師把兩曲連接起來播放。歌曲是 Edna Lewis 神速完成的作品, 監製的 Quincy Jones 理所當然是交給 Lesley 演繹了。五月十四日完成錄音, 單曲於六月二十一日面世, 亦登入 U.S. Billboard Hot 100 榜上第五位, 並收錄在 Lesley Gore 的第一張專輯 "I'LL CRY IF I WANT TO"。

"IT'S MY PARTY" 後續篇: 少女在生日派對, 眼看男友找到新歡 Judy, 心感不忿和悲傷, 即時在派對中找到一個男孩, 給他送上香吻作無聲的報復, 這一切盡入 Johnny 的眼底, 心生嫉妒並憤然給那男孩享以老拳, 然後重回到少女的身傍作一番撫慰, 這次輪到 Judy 淚下而去, 那男孩以為飛來艷福, 卻莫名其妙吃了一拳 !

共和黨的 Ronald Reagan 参予競選美國第四十任總統期間, 在 University of Michigan 密芝根大學, 一個自由開放型式的校園學生廣播電台 WCBN-FM, 由1980年十一月, 連續十八小時不停播放一曲 "It's My Party" 以示民主黨的支持者對抗共和黨的總統選情, 繼而還有其他唱片騎師加入, 這對抗活動持續了好幾天才停下來。
