八十年代初, 香港流行樂壇正處於中西歌曲潮流的演變, 很多以演唱英文歌曲的本地歌手, 均嘗試演譯一些本地創作的粵語流行曲, 之外亦同時有很多中詞西曲的出現, 最為樂迷喜愛的歌手如: 許冠傑、關正傑、區瑞强, 和 "The Wynners 温拿" 等均有不少佳作。
當年的一隊四人民歌組合 "The Swinging Minstrels" 其中有 Michael Kwan 關正傑之外, 另一位較為低調的實力派歌手 Sam Ho 何國禧, 他以個人演譯的歌曲亦不少, 而一首溫馨且清新, 和當年衹有幾歲的兒子合唱歌曲, 是至今亦為樂迷津津樂道, 父子情深的勵志歌曲 ....

鄭國江以原曲 "Daddy, What If" 撰上中文歌詞, 與網頁上誤引的歌曲是絕對不同, 衹不過两曲是出自同一作詞人而已。筆者亦不知何解, 大多數中文網頁所引述的 "A Boy Named Sue", 其歌曲內容:「一個被遺棄的男孩, 因父親給他起上了女孩子 "Sue" 的名字, 使他一生為耻, 怨恨且忿, 把父親殺掉作報復」。一首邪惡內容的歌曲, 卻把它視作《親親爹哋》的原曲出處, 這是不經查究而介紹給讀者的失誤, 樂迷可在網上找出「親親爹哋 - 何國禧」的記錄可引證。

是1974年, 八歲的 Bobby Bare, Jr. 與父親 Bobby Bare 同被提名 "格林美獎 Grammy Award" 的歌曲。Shel Silverstein 是一位百變又出色的音樂人、作詞家、詩人, 專長於兒童歌曲和卡通漫畫, 曾給予不少民歌手撰寫鄉謠歌曲, 包括 Johnny Cash 和 Loretta Lynn; 而大多數 Bobby Bare 的歌曲均是出自他的佳作, 此曲的誕生亦是 Shel 開始任上年輕 Bobby Bare, Jr. 的導師。
Shel Silverstein 1999年逝世; 至2010年, 為悼念他的專輯唱片 "Twistable, Turnable Man", 當中亦收錄了 "Daddy, What If", 這次由 Bobby Bare, Jr 與他的女兒 Isabella 演譯, 讓他再重溫孩時與父親溫馨的回憶, 亦是父親與子女之情與珍惜大自然的延續。
