Mickey Newbury (1940-2002)
1940年生於 Texas 德薩斯州 Houston 休斯頓。少年時期已喜歡拿着結他自創歌曲, 四出尋找知音, 被邀加入樂隊 "The Embers" 仼主音歌手之後, 成為多位著名歌手的表演前奏樂隊, 曾經與 Mercury Records 唱片公司有過短暫合作, 但是, 自十九歲服役空軍之後, 把音樂事業擱置下來。
在軍隊服役四年後, 再次投向以作曲為主的工作, 先從咖啡室歌手開始, 並吸收黑人藍調節奏和格調。1965年, 遷居 Nashville 納殊維爾, 與著名的音樂出版公司 Acuff-Rose Music 簽約, 成為旗下的歌曲創作成員。1966年, 他的作品 "Funny Familiar Forgotten Feelings" 分別登上四個不同歌曲系列的排行榜前五名之內, 成為 Don Gibson with The Jordanaires 的十大熱門鄉村歌曲之一, 亦是 Tom Jones, Dottie West 和 Engelbert Humperdinck 的受歡迎歌曲。

Mickey Newbury 時年三十一歲, 他走出流行歌曲傳統創作的規範, 把两首十九世紀具有歴史性的作品 "Dixie"、"The Battle Hymn of the Republic", 和一首相差近百年的流行歌曲 "All My Trials", 三首同樣是象徵美國精神的經典合為一體, 編製成嶄新歌曲收錄在他的專輯 "Frisco Mabel Joy"。
1971年十月 "An American Trilogy" 面世之後, 隨即登上美國不同流行榜的頗高位置, 成為美國流行樂壇另一首經典作品。
