黑白電影年代, 在影片中的古老火車, 氣笛鳴響, 緩慢駛離月台, 噴出的蒸氣如雲霧, 一遍迷蒙與感人的歌曲, 在浪漫中帶點哀愁, 吸引不少影迷和樂迷, 這類電影和歌曲隨着時光的飄移, 有不少已成為經典作品。
美國歷史上第一條火車鐵路, 由營運公司 The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad "B&O" 於1828年七月四日進行動土與碑石奠基儀式, 並將作曲家 Arthur Clifton 在三天前已登記版權的樂譜 "The Carrollton March" 交由樂隊在儀式中演奏, 繼而展開這項鐵路工程。第一段全長十三英里, 從 Baltimore 至今天的 Ellicott City, 在花崗岩碎石上舖設的火車路軌, 於1830年五月二十四日完成, 並由新製造名為 "Tom Thumb" 的蒸氣機車测試之後, 至1831年成為載客與及貨運工具。自此, 美國的鐵路系統繼續發展至全國。
Charles Carroll (1737-1832)
美國一位愛爾蘭裔政治人物, Maryland 馬利蘭州的參議員, 是當年最後一位仍然健在, 曾参予1776年 "Declaration of Independence 獨立宣言" 的簽署, 亦是唯一的天主教徒簽署人。
Charles Carroll 最後一次出席公共事務, 時年九十一歲, 主持 Baltimore 至 Ohio River 的鐵路動土, 與及紀念碑石奠基儀式; 亦見證了美國第一條蒸氣火車鐵路的載客運行。1832年十一月, 在家中安詳離世, 享年九十五歲, 為紀念他一生的功績和貢獻, 在美國有三個地方以他命名, Maryland 馬利蘭州 New Carrollton, Georgia 喬治亞州 Carroll County 與及 Ohio 俄亥俄州 Carrollton, 因此, 他被稱 "Charles Carroll of Carrollton"。
作曲家 Arthur Clifton 生於英國 Edinburgh 愛丁堡, 原名 Philip Antony Corri (1784-1832), 曾参予創立 "London Philharmonic Society 倫敦交响樂學會" 與及 "The Royal Academy of Music 皇家音樂學院"; 1820年, 移居美國 Baltimore 巴爾的摩, 在教堂任風琴師, 與及撰寫音樂教學的文章; 1832年二月十日離世, 終年四十八歲, 他的音樂作品 "The Carrollton March" 是獻給 Charles Carroll, 這位在美國被受尊崇的政治人物。

美國樂壇第一首與火車有關連的樂曲於1828年面世, 至1830年火車鐵路誕生之後, 火車開始成為各類電影的题才, 亦是傳統音樂至流行歌曲、古典與前衛音樂的主題之一。雖然近幾十年來, 鐵路運輸與載客已漸退下來, 但火車為流行歌曲帶來不少創作靈感, 至今仍歴久不衰。在流行樂壇關於火車的歌曲當中, 最為普羅歌迷認識的作品, 亦是後來由 Peter, Paul & Mary 演繹的版本 "500 Miles" - Original & Remade

今天, 偶然找到一首不見經傳, 不知歌手名字, 衹稱五十年代的情歌作品, 搜遍不同音樂資訊平臺, 包括歌曲名字記錄, 甚至在 "火車歌曲大全" 的八百八十多首作品, 均没有此曲的記錄, 費時一番之後, 據稱是 "AI" 的製作, 而歌者溫柔的腔調, 加上低色調與彩色的畫面在不同時空出現, 亦是一首頗為動人的歌曲!
