EVIE SANDS
一首流行歌曲面世之後, 經多位女歌手以不同格調, 重新錄製同登上流行榜, 而當年有一位女歌星唯獨錯過了此曲 ....
1967年, 作曲家 Chip Taylor 將作品完成後, 親自前往見一位當年紅極一時的女歌星, 邀請她首唱而被推掉, 聲稱不想冒險至被破壞形象, 理由是歌詞對女歌者是一種醜化與侮辱, Taylor 唯有另求他人, 於是再要求另一位女歌手 Evie Sands 演繹, 錄音完成不久, 但運氣不濟, 女歌星所属的唱片公司因財政問題, 宣佈破產倒閉, 完成的唱片被禁制發行, 已流出市面的寥寥可數。
倒運是 Evie Sands? 還是 Cameo-Parkway Record 唱片公司呢? 之後 Chip Taylor 得朋友介紹, 將此曲交付另一唱片監製 Lee Hazelwood 代為統籌, 並由英國女歌手 Billie Davis 主唱, 令這一曲得以再生。 至今, 由不同歌手風格, 曲目各異和其他語言, 經新編錄音, 版本多達一百三十首。
