"Yentl Syndrome 恩桃綜合症"
美國 "國立衛生研究院 National Institutes of Health" 第十三任主管 Bernadine Healy 博士, 1991年撰寫的心臟病症狀學術論文, 她用上 "Yentl Syndrome" 這新詞彙; 她承認這是由於看過 Barbra Streisand 1984年主演的電影 "YENTL" 所啟發。
"Yentl Syndrome" 直譯 "恩桃綜合症" 的論文, 經醫學研究和分析, 是源於女性心臟病發時與男性有所分别, 問題是許多醫學研究, 主要是集中在男性心臟病的症狀上, 而忽略了女性的症狀和生活上有別於男性, 因此, 不少女性由於偏差的診斷而引致死亡, 但醫學上仍以兩者合一作研究結論; Bernadine Healy 博士認為男女的症狀有别, 應該要獨立處理和分析, 這議題成為她這篇學術論文的基礎。相反, 在同性戀的議題, 一些學者對性取向的研究, 亦有男女之分的論述, 但是, 至今仍沒法取得共識。
原著作品有更令人惘然的結局: "Hadass 在家庭反對下, 取消了與 Avigdor 的婚約。隱藏着女兒身的 "Yentl" 早已心繫 Avigdor, 但發覺他滿不在乎, 又不能明顯地引起他會意, 因此答應了 Hadass 的婚事來激怒他作報復, 但受苦的卻是自己。最終, Avgidor 與一位唯物主義的女店主, 被丈夫離棄的 Peshe 結婚"。
故事的終結, 令許多問題留下來; 而 Avigdor 是唯一知道 Anshel 是女兒身, 但是, 自此始終, "Yentl" 亦沒有跟 Avgidor 剖白對他的愛意, 唯有離開家鄉波蘭。
西方《梁山伯 與 祝英台》YENTL - "The Way He Makes Me Feel"
YENTL《恩 桃》- 電影
影迷看過猶太版《梁山伯 與 祝英台》的片段, 故事中的 "Yentl" 是個生於猶太傳統世俗的女孩, 以易服來衝破這個傳統, 對西方文化以外作出抗爭而已。但是, 電影並沒有把 "Yentl" 這角色在異性戀一面多些描繪, 影迷衹看到她離開波蘭家鄉, 遠赴自由開放的美國作電影的完結。當年, 有一些影評人士認為"角色性别"的取向, 含糊不清, 沒有交待; 另外, 影片引起的議論是社會不公, 令致女性不能享有平等的機會而已。
LGBT 電影中, 女主角的性取向, 令觀眾有不同的議論; 但是 "Yentl" 這電影已言明 "她既不是另一個性別, 祗是一個女性身上有着男人的靈魂" 而已, 因此, 正好質疑每個觀眾對不同性取向的認同; 如果電影中的 "Yentl" 要選擇餘生仍繼續以易服 Anshel 的身分活下去的話, 今天, 我們可否以宏觀和較開明的態度去相對呢?
無可否認, 故事背後卻有女權主義的啟示。從這一齣八十年代的電影情節來看, "Yentl" 是個敢於背叛和不惜唾棄世俗的女孩, 衹因社會不公而作出呼喚, 亦是為了過去和現今的同志, 打開了"出櫃"的一線門縫。
