Roger Whittaker 的版本面世, 同年亦有 Sheena Easton 的演譯出現; 繼而, 其他歌手亦接踵而至。1983年, Lou Rawls 更把它首登 "Billboard Adult Contemporary" 第十位; Gary Morris 的演譯打進鄉謠榜第四位; 令致 Silbar 和 Henley 兩人贏得 (CMA) "鄉謠音樂協會 Country Music Associatio" 全年的歌曲大獎。

The Gladys Knight & the Pips 演譯的版本改上曲名 "Hero", 並登上 "Hot Black Singles 黑人單曲榜" 二十三位。這版本收錄在1986年的電視電影 "The George McKenna Story" 又名 "Hard Lessons" 的挿曲; 該電影由黑人明星, 丹素·華盛頓 Denzel Washington 主演。可惜無法找到電影的中文譯名, 可能是電視片集而沒有正式發行至其他國家。
