"WIND BENEATH MY WINGS"
歌曲名字來自撰詞家 Larry Henley 的一首詩 "The Wind Beneath My Wings", 由於譜曲的 Jeff Silbar 喜歡這曲目的名字, 因為自從他學駕小型飛機後, 亦有意撰寫一曲飛翔天空的歌曲; 兩人有相同的意念, 不出一天的時間, 歌詞和曲譜同完成。

經唱片監製提議, 改以較慢節拍之後, 聽來更富情感, 被認為是一首男女均可演譯的情歌, 其歌詞可普及至朋友、家人、不同場合, 富勵志和正能量的作品, 成為今天流行樂壇的經典之一。

1988年 Bette Midler 的版本, 收錄在她演出的電影 "BEACHES"- Forever Friends 港譯:《莫負當年情》故事: Bette Midler 紐約的舞台藝人 Cecilia Carol "C.C." Bloom; Barbara Hershey 飾演出生顯赫家庭的 Hillary Whitney, 在西岸三藩市任職律師。

兩人出生極為差異的家庭背景和教育, 童年在沙灘偶遇, 玩捉迷藏認識而結為摯友, 鬧著玩而立下盟約, 除了可見面之外, 無論身處何方均以書信來往相告。後來, 兩人的生活, 事業和愛情各有不同遭遇, 在互勵互勉和扶持下而經歴了三十多年的友情。

由於任職律師的 Whitney 不幸遇上心臓問題, 要入院等候移植手術; 歌星 Cecilia 雖然身處東岸, 為守盟約而前赴相見、陪伴和鼓勵, 以圓摯友的心願; 一齣感人電影, 一個悲情的結局。

電影挿曲 "Wind Beneath My Wings" 由 Bette Midler 演譯, 這首感情澎湃的經典, 成了劇中挚友的安魂曲。此曲除了獻給愛情、友情、親情、勵志和感恩的作品之外, 繼 Celine Dion 的經典 "My Heart Will Go On" 和 Whitney Houston 的絕唱 "I Will Always Love You" 另一首在葬禮儀式的輓歌。


1988 : Bette Midler- 'WIND BENEATH MY WINGS"

Bette Midler 在電影挿曲的演譯版本, 1989年以單曲唱片面世, 即登上 "U.S. Billboard Hot 100" 六月份的榜首位置一星期, 並獲得 "Grammy Awards 格林美獎" 1990年度歌曲; 1991年十月, 更榮獲 "Recording Industry Association of America 美國唱片業協會" 頒發銷量達一百萬張的 "PLatinum Certificate" 白金唱片。2004年, Bette Midler 的一曲 "Wind Beneath My Wings" 被列入 "美國電影學會 American Film Institute" - AFI  紀念美國電影歌曲一百首, 列第四十四位置。"Wind Beneath My Wings" 自1982年面世, 有不少重新錄製的版本出現。Bette Midler 繼1979年 "THE ROSE 玫瑰狂熱" 電影挿曲 "The Rose" 之後, 1988年, 另一首踏上高峰的電影歌曲; 自此, 有更多歌手演譯 ....
