我們每天所聽到的歌曲, 多以 "愛情 Love" 為主題的 "情歌 Love Song"; 而歌曲內容以 金錢為主題的 "錢歌 Money Song", 在流行歌曲中亦有不少佳作, 無論它的内容對金錢的觀點怎樣, 目的是相同的。

世界不同文化有他們對 "錢" 的稱謂; 英文的 Dollar, Greenback, Benjamins, Coin, Loonie, Cash, Quid, Dime, Buck, Scratch 等; 而粵語對 "錢" 亦有雅俗不同的叫法。
自古至今, 人們對錢的追求是不變的, 不論它帶來歡樂或痛苦; 因金錢而帶來給親友、家庭、社會、甚至國家的問題甚廣。一些腰纏萬貫的富翁、龎大的工商、財團機構, 從不滿意這資本主義的制度, 認為有碍他們的財富增長, 要千方百計至不擇手段去賺盡每分每毫, 而貧困的人唯有勞碌一生, 但求生活有一點改善而已。實在, 貧富两者, 生活上的需求, "量" 是大致相同的, 至於 "質" 的選擇, 就因人而異了, 所以有自我安撫的良方妙藥, 一些諺語如: "寧吃開眉粥, 不吃愁眉飯" ......
今天要介紹一些關於 "金錢 Money" 的歌曲 "錢歌 Money Song", 所列的歌曲並沒有統一標準與次序之分, 全是一些歐美流行歌曲業界的個人喜好與推介, 當中不少有精簡的佳句。由於歌曲太多, 筆者以較普遍所認識的歌手、歌曲、詞的精句、對金錢不同看法的內容作個人選擇。

1947年 Merle Travis 的原創民歌, 此曲唱出當年礦工艱苦的工作, 更打動近二百萬個歌迷的心。1966年, 一位曾職礦工的民歌創作歌手 George Davis 稱此曲是出自1930年的民歌 "Nine-to-ten tons"。但是收錄在自己的專輯 "When Kentucky Had No Union Men" 的, 仍然是 "Sixteen Tons", 衹是歌詞的段落有不同而已。
