Victor Jara (1932-1973)
Víctor Lidio Jara Martínez, 1932年生於 Chile 智利 Lonquén 倫昆鎮一個貧困的六孩家庭, 父親 Manuel Jara 是個目不識丁的佃農, 不希望孩子上學, 衹要他們能幫助農耕工作; 母親 Amanda, 是個 Mapuche 族血統的混血兒, 受過教育, 自學結他和鋼琴彈奏的歌手, 善唱傳統民歌, 常於當地的婚禮和葬禮等, 以吟唱賺取酬勞, 幫補家計。
音 樂 生 涯
Victor Jara 時年十五歲, 母親過世, 因而放棄學業, 立志要成為神職人員, 進入神學院修讀幾年後, 對天主教會感到失望而離開。繼而在軍隊服役, 數年之後回到家鄉, 追求他對民間音樂和戲劇的興趣。加入智利聖地牙哥大學的合唱團後, 受到合唱團的成員勸說, 決定從事戲劇事業; 隨後, 入讀該大學的戲劇系, 憑藉自己的才華而獲得獎學金。畢業之後, 從事舞台演藝和導演的工作, 在演藝事業獲得成功而被稱為詩人歌手。
"Nueva Canción Chilena" 智 利 新 歌 曲"
1957年, 結識了 "Nueva Canción 新歌曲" 的倡導人 Violeta Parra, 之後一同組成 "Peñas" 音樂中心, 開始將民歌融入日常生活, 演唱具有明顯左翼傾向的民謠。Victor 繼而與一個名為 "Cuncumén" 的樂團一起, 1957至1963年擔任樂團的結他歌手, 並繼續探索傳統音樂, 深受 Chile 智利和其他拉丁美洲國家的民謠, 與及受到 Argentina 阿根廷音樂家 Atahualpa Yupanqui, 和智利政治家詩人 Pablo Neruda 的影響, 由六十年代開始專注於民歌, 曾前往 San Diego 聖地牙哥, 在 Violeta Para 的女兒 Ángel 擁有的 La Peña de Los Parra 音樂中心演唱, 透過這些活動, 開始參予拉丁美洲民謠的 "Nueva canción 新歌曲" 行列。
1966年, 首張以個人名字 "Victor Jara" 的專輯面世, 後來的再版, 這張專輯被改名為 "Canto a lo humano"- 意譯 "Hymn to the Human"。他的第二張專輯, 用上同一名字 "Victor Jara", 1967年面世, 當中有備受爭議的歌曲 "El Aparecido" 意譯 "The Ghost", 是向 "Che Guevara 哲古華拉" 這位被邊緣化的革命人物致敬, 亦是給正義奮鬥的逃亡者一首讚歌。

Victor Jara 還收錄了翻唱拉丁美洲和西班牙的民歌, 這張專輯後來以 "Desde Lonquén hasta siempre" 意譯 "From Lonquén to Forever" 的名字印製和發行。1968年, Victor Jara 完成與 "Quilapayún" 合唱團共同錄製的專輯唱片, 名為 Canciones Folklóricas de América 美國民謠歌曲"。之後, 發展個人的音樂事業, 一系列受到好評的歌曲錄音作品面世, 包括1969年 "Pongo en tus manos abiertas" - I Put into Your Open Hands, 1971年 "El derecho de vivir en paz" - The Right to Live in Peace, 與及1972年 "La población" - The Population。
