1. CHRONICLES《歷代志上》HYMN XLI
自此, 這詩篇再沒有在英國本土的教堂敍會出現。至1829年, 在美國一本以黑奴聖詩的曲譜, 當中有兩首詩歌, 樂譜是作曲家 Lucius Chapin 分別撰上蘇格蘭民歌的曲調, 兩首不同音樂結構, 和不同名字的詩歌 "St. Mary's" 與及 "Gallaher" 的作品。

十九世紀初, 美國新教復興, 教友和民眾均感悔改認罪, 基督信仰的生活興起, 人們渴望更認識耶穌基督和復興教會, 重返教堂讀經聚會。1835年, 美國 Baptist Church 浸信會, 聖詩曲樂篇撰家 William Walker 以1829年的兩首作品, "Callaher" 與 "St. Mary's", 取樂譜二合為一, 改編和撰上 "Hymn XLI" (XLI 羅馬數字, X=10 L=50, I=1 即今天的 41) 全篇六段詩句。完成後, 印錄在自己所編撰的樂譜 "Southern Harmonies", 並改上新的聖詩名字, 這亦是它面世以來, 首次被撰上樂譜的版本。
"New Britain"《新不列顛》在當年代的美國, 最大影響力就是使到各教派和地區, 以宗教服務為主旨, 令社區聖詩音樂得以發展和人們有相互愛心。
William Walker 考慮到民眾對傳統樂譜的認識, 他把學校音樂自1801年已採用較易記認的"Shape Note 形狀音符", 一種用在"Scared Harp 聖詩豎琴"容易閱讀的樂譜, 套用在其他聖詩歌曲音樂上, 這樂譜就是應用在今天的讚美詩"Amazing Grace"《奇異恩典》, 這聖詩的名字怎樣出現, 至今仍沒有文獻可查究, 其正確年份和是誰把它起上一個"奇異"的名字呢 ?
