Richard Berry & The Pharaohs
1954年組成的四人合唱樂隊, Richard Berry 為首, 三位成員 Robert Harris, Godoy Colbert, Noel Collins。樂隊名字冠以埃及 Egypt 法魯王 "The Pharoahs", 祗不過是創隊成員 Codoy Colbert 的主意, 以突出的名字令樂迷注目而已。
Richard Berry 原是樂隊 "The Flairs" 的低音結他歌手, 之外每個週末晚上他亦参予一隊十二人的古巴樂隊 "Ricky Rillera & Rhythm Rockers" 在夜總會演奏, 期間有一首不可或缺演奏的歌曲, 就是 René Touzet 的作品 "El Loco Cha Cha"。Richard Berry 組成四人合唱的 "The Pharaohs" 之後, 受了 Chuck Berry 1956年的作品 "Havana Moon" 啟發靈感而寫成 "Louie Louie", 他承認樂曲的結構和格調是模仿 René Touzet 的歌曲....

歌曲的節奏帶有 Jamaica 牙買加音樂的格調, 面世後引發了當時另一嶄新的舞步熱潮之外, 包括同年由 Harry Belafonte 演繹的 "Calypso 卡力騷" 節奏歌曲 "Jamaica Farewell", 兩者同樣引起時下年青人一番跳舞狂熱。
