2012年冬日清晨, 發生在 Russia 俄羅斯 Moscow 莫斯科 , 一群年輕女子步入 "Cathedral of Christ the Saviour 基督救世主大教堂", 她們默不作聲, 脫下寒冬厚衣, 戴上色彩繽紛的 Balaclavas 蒙面帽, 踏上不允許婦女涉足的祭壇, 對着空氣拳打腳踢, 高喊 " 該死！該死！上帝的屁話! "
事發不出一分鐘, 警衛馬上到來押送這群女子離開, 教堂内的婦女保持冷靜, 因為她們已實現了一直以來要做的事情。當晚稍後的時間, 在 YouTube 出現了一段視頻, 標題為「"Punk" 的祈禱: 聖母把 Putin 普京趕走!」, 畫面是教堂裡的示威, 並伴隨著喧鬧的 "Punk Rock" 歌曲。歌詞是直接針對 Russian Orthodox 俄羅斯東正教的大主教 Patriarch Kirill, 由於他與總統 Vladimir Putin 普京的關係密切, 曾公開支持 Putin 普京連任之外, 更聲稱其統治是 ｢上帝的奇蹟 !｣。
身為大主教的 Patriarch Kirill 其煙草業務與四十億美元的財富而聞名, 最近公開批評公民的政治活動。在慶祝繼任大主教三週年的儀式上, 聲稱: ｢東正教人民不知道如何示威, 在聖母之名, 這些人是不用出去示威, 他們的聲音不會被聽到, 因為他們在修道院、牢房、家裡,
寂靜地祈禱!｣。"Pussy Riot" 反駁: ｢俄羅斯人的聲音亦沒有被聽到, 民眾想把 Putin 普京趕走, 但是,
他們的選票早已被中央選舉委員會竊取了!｣。
幾天後, "Pussy Riot" 其中三名成員被捕, 指控她們的行為是仇恨宗教的流氓, 被判處兩年監禁。在審判的過程, 她們堅稱: ｢如果歌曲冒犯了任何人的話, 她們很抱歉, 而 "上帝的屁話" 是我們對這個國家的局勢評估, 這種觀點並不是褻瀆｣。
即使在今天, "Punk Prayer"
這一曲被俄羅斯政府禁制而沒有錄製唱片, 但仍然存在不少爭議。根據審判後不久進行的一項調查, 百份之四十二的俄羅斯人, 認為這首歌是對俄羅斯東正教及其宗教價值觀的攻擊, 只有百份之十九的人認為這是對 Putin 普京在俄羅斯教會中的影響力以示抗議。
