一首認為是 "Nashville Sound" 的典範歌曲, 單調的歌詞與音樂、加上背後一些低沉的和聲, 把歌者求悔哀唱盡顯; 此曲更是鄉謠與流行曲的結合, 成了五十年代樂壇的新導向。歌詞簡單直率, 像苦澀的傾訴, 原來是出自一個祇有十五歲的少女。此曲完成錄製後, 仍處於社會較保守的年代, Decca 唱片公司曾花上幾個月時間, 猶疑在道德和法律的考慮; 最後不理世俗, 冒上被社會道德的批評, 把一個年輕少女, 像情海波瀾似的歌曲發行面世。
Brenda Lee 原名 Brenda Mae Tarpley, 生於1944年十二月十一日, Atlanta 亞特蘭大的清貧家庭, 父職是建築工人。自小有表演天才, 三歲已参加表演, 五歲曾獲歌唱獎項; 七歲開始在 Atlanta Radio Show 的 "Starmakers Revue" 獲酬經常演出, 同時由電視監製給她改以名字 Brenda Lee。九歲時, 父親因工業意外致身亡; 令一個小女孩要成為家庭的主要經濟支柱。
LITTLE BRENDA LEE
十二歲, 身高祇有1.45米的 Brenda 現身電視綜合節目, 憑一曲 "Dynamite" 贏得 "Little Miss Dynamite" 的稱號後, 開始被樂壇業界注目。
1956年, Decca Records 給她首張單曲唱片錄音, 歌曲: "Bigelow 6-200" 和 "Jambalaya"; 1960年, 第三十張單曲 "I'm Sorry", 即登上1960年七月三十日的 U.S. Billboard Chart 的首位, 當年她祇有十五歲另二百二十天。
在十位最年輕的 U.S. Billboard Chart 榜首歌星紀錄中, Brenda Lee 是列第七位。
